Why You Should Check AIS and 26AS Before Filing ITR
Before filing ITR you should cross check your income from different sources like salary, dividend Income, Interest income etc.
For Salary Income: You get form 16 from your employer, same you can cross verify from AIS and 26AS. There may be instances where your salary is reflected in AIS is more on the other hand in form 16 it is less, now if you file ITR according to your form 16 then there will be chances that you will receive notice from the income tax department.
So in the above case what you can do you after cross verifying submit the feedback this is not my income and then file your ITR and also inform your employer that excess salary is reflected in my AIS and from 26AS.
How to Check Annual Information Statements (AIS)
Step 1: First, visit the e-filing portal link and click on the Login (On the top right corner). Now enter the user ID: PAN or Aadhar and click on the continue button. Tick the please confirm the secure access, enter the password, and click on the continue button.
Step 2: Now click on AIS, after that click on proceed
Step 3: Click again on AIS and you will see AIS – Annual Information Statement. Here you can select the financial year as per your requirement, so for Assessment Year 24 – 25 we need AIS of Financial Year 23-24.

2. Annual Information statement (AIS)
Click on anyone it will open. If we talk about TIS then it is a summary of all source income that you earned during that financial year
After click on AIS you will see a detailed information like the below shown, Part A consists of general details that contain PAN, Aadhar number and other personal details.
Part B consists of your all source of income, payment of taxes, share market transaction, any demand or refund and any other information.
this is the way you can see the AIS, you need a login credentials to see the same.
How to Correct or Submit feedback in AIS
Click on that source of income and you will find Feedback heading now click on the option, only if you think this is a incorrect.
Now you will need to select the appropriate feedback and submit it
How to view form 26AS
Step 1: Visit the e-filing portal and login the same steps as above shown
Stepp 2: Under e-file -> Income Tax Returns -> View form 26AS
Step 3: Click on confirm and after that click on proceed. Now “Click View Tax Credit (Form 26AS/Annual Tax Statement) to view your Form 26AS/Annual Tax Statement.”
Step 4: Select the Assessment Year and View as HTML. Click on View and download
Now you can see your 26AS.
