Stock market holiday: BSE, and NSE to remain shut due to Mahavir Jayanti today

SYNOPSIS: The first stock market holiday in the month of April 2023, and two more stock market holidays in April month on 7th April and 14th April.

The trading activity paused at the stock market (BSE and NSE) due to the Mahavir Jayanti festival.  This festival is getting celebrated across the country.  The trading on National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will remain closed for the entire session on Tuesday i.e. on 4th April 2023 for Mahavir Jayanti.

So, Many people are confused and asking questions about whether today, the share market is open for trading or not, they are being informed that there will be no trading on BSE and NSE today.

As per the stock market, holiday 2023 available on the official BSE website mentioned that there will be no action in the Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment, and SLB Segment today. Trading in Currency Derivative Segment will also remain suspended today.

According to the stock market holiday list of April 2023, it is the first stock market holiday of this month. Further in April 2023, there will be two more stock market holidays:

  • 7th April 2023 and
  • 14th April 2023

Stock Market will remain closed on 7th April due to Good Friday however it will also remain closed on 14th April on account of  Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti.

So, the stock market will also remain closed on weekends, i.e. Saturdays and Sundays.

Stock Market Holiday in arriving Month

BSE and NSE will remain closed for Maharashtra on 1st May on account of Maharashtra Day.  It will also remain closed in the month of June 2023 on the 28th due to the Bakri Id celebrations.  No official market holiday in July 2023.

The market will also remain closed on :

  • 15th August, as India celebrates the completion of 75 years of freedom from British rule.
  • 19th September for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.
  • 2nd October Gandhi Jayanti
  • 24th October for Dussehra
