Your Income Tax Return has been identified under the risk management process of the Income Tax Department for the following reason(s), wherein your confirmation is required on the following claim(s)/deduction(s)/Omission(s) resulting in refund.
Reason(S):-
Deduction claimed under Chapter VIA more than the amount as shown in TDS Annexure-II of employer { please check the reasons for the variance between deduction claims made before the employer and the Return of Income / Variance in the claims made in the original return and the revised return}
This communication is intended to alert you on any possible incorrect claims/ommissions in the return.
You are requested to submit your response in the e-Filing Portal, after selecting either of the following options:
- The claim of refund is correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.
- Return of Income is being revised wherein, correct claim of refund shall be made.
Why Taxpayers Receiving this mail:
Because there is a difference between Deductions claimed in ITR and deductions shown in Form 16 issued by the employer.
Now understand with an example:
Mr. X had taken house property on loan and he is paying EMI (Principal + Interest) so he can claim the deduction under section 80C for Principal portion and for the interest portion under section 24(b).
Mr. X is an employee so he needs to furnish the above detail to claim the deduction. If Mr. X has not furnished the above details to the employer.
But while filing ITR Mr. X claimed deduction. Deductions claimed in form 16 and while filing ITR is different now. This difference results in mail from Income Tax Department (CPC).
Deductions in Form 16 | While Filing ITR Deductions claimed | Difference |
---|---|---|
80,000 | 1,50,000 | 70,000 |
