How to Join Text in Microsoft Excel?



In the previous post, we saw “How to Use Sum | Autosum | Max | Min | Average in Excel?“, now we will see how to join or combine text in excel.

How to Combine Text in Excel?

There are many times in Excel when you want to combine texts from different cells. For example, you want to combine First Name and Last Name into Full Name.

In excel you can combine data from multiple cells into a single cell via:

1. Ampersand Symbol (&)

2. CONCATENATE Function

Using the same example

Type = where you want to combine text select the first cell and type ampersand symbol & and used quotation marks with a space enclosed. Select the next cell you want to combine and press enter.

Using the CONCATENATE Function

With the help of the same example, we will see how to join text using the CONCATENATE function.

Select the cell where you want to join text then type =CONCATENATE( after that select the first cell. Use commas to separate the cells you are combining and use quotation marks to add spaces, commas, or other text.

Close the formula with a parenthesis and press Enter.
