How to apply post function
Before following steps on how to apply the post function. Let’s first understand what is actually a post function in Jira.
Post function carry out additional processing after a transition performed like (Open to In progress)
NOTE: Only Jira Admin can perform these steps and here we are guiding for Company managed project
Step 1: Go to Setting and select projects as shown in below screen:

Step 2: Once you click on projects all the projects will appear and you need to select any of them in which you want to apply the post function.

Step 3: Once you open the project now just scroll down and click on “project setting” as shown in below screen:

Step 4: Now we need to select “workflows” and click on “pencil bar” as shown in below screen:

Step 5: Workflow will be open as text view and you can click on diagram view as shown below screen:

Step 6: Now click on any transition where you wish to apply the post function as shown in below screen:

Step 7: Now click on “Add post function” as shown in below screen:

Step 8: We can apply the post function as per our business requirement and here we are going to select the option “Update Issue Field” and click on “Add” as shown in the below screen

Step 9: Once you click on “Add” then as per your business need you can select options. Here we want to clear the Assignee when the issue is completed(Done) and click on Add as shown below screen

Step 10: You will be able to see the below screen as the post function is applied:

Step 11: Click on “Publish draft ” and below the screen pop-up. you need to select “Yes” OR “No” for a backup copy. Here I am selecting “No” as we don’t want to save a backup copy of the existing workflow. then click on “Publish”

Congratulation you have successfully applied the post function in the workflow. You can apply as many post functions as per your business requirement.
