How to Fill Data Automatically in Excel Worksheet Cells?



To fill automatically data in worksheet cells you must enable fill handle first. If you enable fill handle only then you can fill data automatically in excel. So let’s start…..

How to Enable Fill Handle?

1. To enable fill handle first launch excel.

2. After launching excel click on the “File” tab, go to “more…” and click on “Options”. After that go to “Advanced” and Tick the “Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop”

Now we can automatically fill the data in an excel worksheet. This fill handle allows to fill automatically data ( number or text ) in a row or column simply by dragging the fill handle “+” icon.


Autofill Numbers

To autofill serial numbers like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…… you need type 1 in the cell from the start of the number and then hold “CTRL” and drag with it (Make sure that the “+” icon visible at the time of dragging it).

For e.g. you want to start from 1 and till … as per your need.

Similarly, we can insert in a row, like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6…… you need type 1 in the cell from the start of the number and then hold “CTRL” and drag with it (Make sure that the “+” icon visible at the time of dragging it).


Autofill Months

To Autofill months, type any month name in cell-like Jan and then drag it (Make sure that the “+” icon visible at the time of dragging it).

Similarly, we can insert in a row, To Autofill months, type any month name in cell-like Jan and then drag it (Make sure that the “+” icon visible at the time of dragging it).


Autofill Date

To autofill date, just start type date like 01/01/2020 and then drag it (Make sure that the “+” icon visible at the time of dragging it).

Similarly you can autofill data in a row, that will save your lot of time and energy.
